In Windows XP, a blue, chunky taskbar was the latest fashion, then we went to a slightly less chunky taskbar, then a transparent one and so on. TranslucentTB proposes a new trend: no taskbar at all. It doesn't simply hide your taskbar, along with all its icons, but it makes it translucent. You won't see a bar on your desktop's edge, but you will still see the Start button, all your shortcuts, system tray icons and the clock.

TranslucentTB is absolutely free, and you can have it up and running on your system in just a few seconds. It doesn't rely on any third-party tools or services, but it's compatible only with Windows 10. Also, you won't notice any impact on your computer's performance while it's running, even if you have older hardware.

Launching TranslucentTB on your computer is all you have to do. Once the application is running, your taskbar will instantly become transparent. All the buttons and icons you have on it will remain in their original positions and they will behave exactly the same, but they will look like they located directly on your desktop. Furthermore, you can still place new icons on your taskbar by dragging and dropping them since the bar is just transparent not completely gone.

The software's functionality is not limited to making your taskbar transparent. It places a good number of options at your disposal, which you can access through a system tray icon. TranslucentTB lets you decide how the taskbar should behave in different situations. For example, you can have it stay transparent, become blurry or return to normal when a window is maximized, when you open the Start menu call upon Cortana and so on. You can also set a transparency level and color of your choice for some of these situations, so you could, for example, have the taskbar turn red when you click the Start button and transparent blue when you maximize a window.

If you are tired of the same old desktop you see every day, TranslucentTB will make it a bit more attractive for you.

Pros

You can instantly make your taskbar transparent. The application provides you with a few customization options to keep things interesting. It doesn't take up too much space or use too many resources, and you can have it up and running in no time.

Cons

There are no serious issues to point out.
